As we enter 2021, teachers across NE Kansas are still dealing with the pandemic. Some are instructing students in class, while others are using their computers to remote teach students. Our latest Crystal Apple winner has done a great job balancing both.
Mrs. Ally Figgs teaches ELA for Mater Dei Middle School in Topeka. She also serves as a homeroom advisor and fills in with administrative duties as needed.
Here is what her nominee said about her:
“Mrs. Figgs works extremely hard at making sure her students get a great education but also that they know that they are loved. She sets her expectations high knowing that all of the polishing will help her students shine. She has adjusted to COVID learning well, taking her 8th students to eat lunch outside and balancing remote and in classroom learners. She goes above and beyond to help. We even saw her helping carry a heavy load of books to aid smaller students. We love Mrs. Figgs.”
