The Topeka Veteran’s Day Parade is coming this Saturday, November 8th, and the City of Topeka and the Topeka Police Department, in collaboration with the Topeka Veterans Day Parade Committee, have announced street closures and parking restrictions in preparation.
Parking along the designated parade route will be strictly prohibited starting at 3 a.m. on parade day. Any vehicles remaining along the route after that time will be towed at the owner’s expense by the Topeka Police Department and Heartland Recovery. If you’re parked along this route, be sure to move your car on the night of the 7th!
The parade will begin at 11 a.m. at the intersection of SW 10th Ave. and SW Harrison St., proceeding:
- East on SW 10th Ave. to SW Kansas Ave.
- North on Kansas Ave. to SW 7th St.
- West on SW 7th St. to SW Van Buren St.
- Dispersing in the 600 block of SW Van Buren St.
To accommodate the parade, the following streets will be closed to vehicle traffic:
- SW Harrison St. from SW 12th St. to SW 10th Ave.
• SW 10th Ave. from SW Topeka Blvd. to SW Kansas Ave.
• SW Kansas Ave. from SW 10th Ave. to SW 7th St.
• SW 7th St. from SW Kansas Ave. to SW Van Buren St.
• SW Van Buren St. from SW 6th St. to SW 7th St
While vehicle access will be restricted, downtown businesses will remain open, and pedestrian access will be maintained so you can still visit your favorite local shops and restaurants!
To avoid towing and traffic congestion, residents and visitors are encouraged to park outside the parade route or utilize downtown parking garages on the evening of Friday, November 7. Be safe and proactive, and most importantly enjoy the parade to honor those who have served our nation.
