Tami Wade, principal at West Indianola Elementary, is our October Crystal Apple Award recipient!
With nearly three decades in education, Tami has spent the last nine years leading West Indianola with heart, energy, and a deep commitment to her school community. She’s known for going above and beyond—starting each morning with a schoolwide assembly, cheering on her teachers in the classroom, and finding creative ways to connect with students.
Most recently, she launched a new tradition called “Wade’s Uber Rides.” Students can use their earned Cardinal Cash to hop aboard a decorated cart—complete with lights, a beanbag seat, and a honking duck horn—for a special ride to class. It’s a small moment that brings big smiles and makes learning fun.
Her nominator, Konner Amer, shared:
“Tami is a dedicated principal who works incredibly hard to advocate for staff, students, and our building. She is always running around doing whatever needs to be done and the first one to step up when someone needs help. Tami is a champion for her staff members and in a district survey almost 100% of staff in our building said they felt supported by her. She is what great leadership looks like and deserves to be recognized for her amazing leadership.”
Tami has dedicated her career to helping students and staff feel seen, supported, and valued. Her leadership is more than a title, it’s the daily joy, encouragement, and kindness she brings to everyone at West Indianola Elementary School.
As a recipient, Tami receives a custom-engraved Crystal Apple and a relaxing overnight stay at Prairie Band Casino & Resort, complete with dinner, free play, and a little well-deserved time to recharge.
Congratulations to Tami Wade on her Crystal Apple Award!
