Topeka Zoo – Yoga In The Garden

Experience the bounty of serenity, wellness, and inspiration by joining us for Springtime Yoga in the Kay McFarland Japanese Garden at the Topeka Zoo. Held weekly through May, you’ll enjoy the serenity and breathtaking views of the garden as you move through a gentle yoga sequence led by local yoga instructor Kathy Damron. Each class will begin with tea and a brief meditation, followed by a 50-minute yoga session. Appropriate for all, those new to yoga as well as seasoned yogis will reap the benefits of time spent in this remarkable setting. Participants are invited to enjoy touring the garden before and after the class!

Yoga In The Garden is apart of Topeka Zoo’s Awaken The Senses Festival to celebrate the life at the Kay McFarland Japanese Garden located in the Topeka Zoo and Conservation Center. They are hosting a variety of activities and events. From Arts and Crafts to Yoga and Art and Wine classes, they have events for all ages!

Every Japanese Garden has a story. Upon entering their garden, each guest is presented with a choice, the path to the right is angular and rigid while the path to the left is softer and gentler. These paths follow separate streams and represent different journeys through life. Eventually the separate paths and streams intersect and merge, starting a unified path that passes near symbols of longevity and eternity. Combined, the elements of the Kay McFarland Japanese Garden celebrates a story about life’s odyssey, love, and family. The Awaken the Senses event combines these elements to bring together our community to celebrate the connections between family and loved ones.

Yoga in the Garden are on Tuesdays 9:30am-10:30am through May.
