You Can Still Shop At The Topeka JCPenney For Now

If you are a shopper at the Topeka JCPenney, then there is some good news. The store located at Westridge Mall is NOT going to be closing. But, according to KSNT NEWS and the JCPENNY WEBSITE, the Emporia location will be closing. Two other stores will be closing in Kansas. Those locations are in Liberal and Salina. There is location a location in Liberty, Missouri that will also be closing its doors.

Store-closing sales will begin June 12th.  The company said that store-closing sales could last anywhere from 10 weeks to four months.  J.C. Penney will also announce more store closures in the next few weeks.

The retailer, already struggling, said in a statement that it hopes to “emerge from bankruptcy and the pandemic a stronger retailer.”  Prior to bankruptcy, J.C. Penney had around 860 stores but have only reopened 500 of them since lock down restrictions have eased.

Hopefully the Topeka store will not be on the list when the next round of stores are announced.
