The months of April and May were challenging times for our teachers around the area. This is why we are so excited to award our Crystal Apples to two deserving teachers.

For the month of April, our winner is Becky Nesmith. She is a Kindergarten teacher at Logan Elementary. Here is what the person who nominated her had to say:

“She is one of the sweetest teachers I’ve ever met. Even when she’s not at work, she is still thinking up new things to make learning fun and exciting for the kiddos! She even tries to get the staff more involved in the school as well.”

For the month of May, our winner comes from Pauline Central in Topeka. Carlin Smith is also a Kindergarten teacher who had some kind words said about her from her nominee:

“Mrs. Smith goes above and beyond as a kindergarten teacher at Pauline Central. She makes sure to keep the kids interested in learning by making learning super fun for example last week they did glow math. A lot of the activities are funded by her and MR. Smith. I want to take her for all she does and keeping our kids safe.

Thank you, Mrs. Smith”

Both Becky and Carlin will receive a Prairie Band Casino and Resort prize package. Also, both schools are in the running to win a $1,000 donation along with both teachers receiving more Prairie Band goodies.

The educator will receive a Prairie Band Casino Prize Pack that includes an overnight stay, $100 to Three Fires Steakhouse, two buffet vouchers and $25 in Prairie Cash. Plus, a commemorative crystal apple award. Twelve monthly winners will be chosen and in January of 2021, one will be named Educator of the YEAR. The educator of the year will receive a $1000 donation to their school from Majic 107.7. Plus, Prairie Band Casino & Resort will award the educator of the year another prize pack (Including 2 concert tickets to a show at PBC + an overnight stay, $100 Prairie Cash, 2 Breakfast buffet vouchers, $100 to Three Fires Steakhouse).
