Need Assistance Paying Utility Bills This Winter?

According to a press release, the Salvation Army is wanting to lend a hand to families in need in Topeka. Here is what was released.

As winter rolls on in Kansas, The Salvation Army will take applications for families who need assistance paying utility bills during the cold months. The Kansas Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) can provide a one-time per year benefit to help pay a portion of home energy costs for eligible people.

Benefit levels will vary according to: household income, number of people living at an address, dwelling type, heating fuel use, and utility rates. The program is federally funded.

The Salvation Army of Topeka will take applications for the program on Saturday, January 25 from 9 AM to 1 PM at 1320 SE 6th Street. No appointment is necessary; applicants must bring proof of Kansas residency and will be required to meet household income thresholds to qualify.

Anyone with questions should contact The Salvation Army at 785-233-9648.
