We have some outstanding teachers in Northeast Kansas. And, Diana Roney of Washburn Rural Middle School is among them.

On January 21st, 2020, Diana was surprised with an all school assembly with a visit from Majic Morning Show hosts, Angie and Sean. Diana won a $1,000 donation to Washburn Rural Middle School and a Prairie Band Casino and Resort Prize Pack, which includes an overnight stay, $100 Prairie Cash, 2 Breakfast buffet vouchers, $100 to the steakhouse and 2 concert tickets.

Diana Roney is a 7th grade Science teacher at Washburn Rural Middle School and our July 2019 Crystal Apple winner. Ms.Roney’s nominator had some amazing things to say about this dedicated educator:

“One of the best pieces of advice anyone gave me as a beginning teacher was to find the marigolds in my school. People plant marigolds in their gardens because they keep pests away. Di Roney is a marigold in my school. She is always available to give a hug, help, or just listen. Her students aren’t just her students, they are her kids. She spends her weekends attending their events so that they know she cares. She understands that teaching is relationships. She’ll travel the Earth to build them.​”
