Capital City High School Crystal Apple Winner

Jamie Olliso is our newest Crystal Apple winner! The story our nominator described shows just how dedicated and hard working Jamie is! He currently works at Capital City High School as a Government and History teacher. Over the years Jamie has overcome many challenges to get where he is as an educator. He enrolled in the “Grow Your Own” program while working as a paraprofessional for Capital City High School. This program was designed to help educators employed by the district get a teaching degree. Jamie graduated in May of 2006 with a Bachelor Degree of Secondary Education in History and he is currently working on getting his Masters in special education.
Here is a little of what our nominator had to say about our awesome educator:

“There are many good people in education. Many compassionate, hardworking people, who don’t get the well-earned praise they deserve. Each and every one of them deserve a prize. However, when it comes to understanding the child with special needs, I believe Mr. Olliso not only walks the walk, but goes a step farther, being an empathetic, caring educator who strives to make learning a fun experience for his government and history students at Capital City High School.”

I think that says it all! Not only supporting children through education and emotional support but he also shows them, through example, that no matter your path you can always strive to succeed and accomplish your goals!
