Edith Kerns has been teaching at Topeka Lutheran School for 4 years and is currently teaches 1st grade. Edith’s favorite part of her job is teaching kids to read at such a crucial age when their developmental skills are being formed. She loves getting to be part of that process. Her anonymous nominator has some wonderful things to say about Ms.Kerns:
“Mrs. Kerns is the first grade teacher at Topeka Lutheran School. She has an amazing ability to reach each student where they are at, yet maintain a class at the same level. She goes above and beyond in helping students not just academically, but also in building character and encouraging faith and kindness. Her approach to educating her students goes beyond encouraging families to participate in their childs education and in fact “draws you in”. Mrs. Kerns touches the lives of every student in a way that they relate to.
