This weeks Topeka Treasure is the fine organization that helps animals find new homes in Topeka.
HELPING HANDS HUMANE SOCIETY provides a safe place for animals that need to find a new home. They have been in the area since 1938. We were very fortunate to be joined by Emi Griess, who is the Communications Coordinator for the organization. She was able to bring in an adorable cat named Pepperoni. Isn’t she adorable!!!
There are some exciting times happening at HHHS. Kathy Maxwell was just named Executive Director! Here is what the press release says about Kathy and her long standing history with the organization.
Maxwell holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Washburn University and a Master’s Degree in Industrial Organizational Psychology from Kansas State University. Her relationship with HHHS began when she was hired in 2002. During her tenure she has held several positions including Adoption Counselor, Special Events Coordinator, Director of Business Affairs and Adoption Services, and Director of Administration. At one point, Maxwell left HHHS to pursue a career elsewhere, but returned shortly after to follow her heart.
They are looking to grow HHHS over the next few years and we are very excited to be a part of it.
