Washburn Rural Teacher wins Crystal Apple Award

Join us in congratulating our April Crystal Apple winner; Brian Mcfall! Mr. McFall has gone above and beyond not only for Washburn Rural School but for his students. He is the DECA sponsor and also teaches Business Essentials, Personal Finance, Information Technology in a Global Society, Marketing Management and Auditing. As if that wasn’t enough he has received his Bachelor’s Degrees from Fort Hays State University and his Master’s Degree from Emporia State University. Although he is a business teacher I’ve seen him spend countless hours helping students succeed in all their classes, not just his own classes. He is known to spend his own spare time creating flash cards or desk aids to assist students struggling in classes he does not teach. He is passionate about improving his school. He has written and been awarded several grants to better his school. He was recently awarded a grant to purchase a t-shirt press so the school store could make their own t-shirts. Mr. McFall has helped create student based-businesses at WRHS, including a coffee shop and school store. He helps students apply what they learn in their business classes to real life. His love for teaching and business inspires entrepreneurship in his students, and several of his students have created their own businesses while in high school. A round of applause to Mr. McFall!
